La Paloma Cerámicas has developed an eco-friendly brick that promises to transform the industry: designed to reduce CO₂ emissions and improve construction efficiency, this innovative product marks a turning point in the ceramics sector.
A smart brick developed for efficient construction
The new eco-friendly brick, unique in its category internationally, achieves a reduction of up to 31.8% in CO₂ emissions per square metre compared to other traditional materials. Compared to conventional facing bricks, this figure stands at 26% when all the cladding sheets are taken into account.
‘Construction generates 37% of global CO₂ emissions, and as a sector we have a great responsibility to mitigate its impact. This brick is our commitment to building a more sustainable future,’ says Francisco Rodríguez, CEO of La Paloma Cerámicas.
Smart design to build more with less
The brick’s format is one of its main innovations. Its dimensions (236 x 100 x 119 mm) allow for a 49% reduction in the use of mortar on exposed brick façades and reduce the number of units required per square metre by up to 36 pieces, also lightening the weight of the main wall by 22%.
This product is not only efficient in its design, but also in its manufacture. It is made from 100% recycled material in the company’s most advanced plants, where the process generates zero waste water and materials. Furthermore, it does not emit volatile organic compounds (VOCs), contributing to improved indoor air quality.
Three models, one commitment
The new eco-friendly range comes in three models: ‘Doñana’, “Monfragüe” and ‘Garajonay’, which stand out for their nature-inspired colours. Their durability, exceeding 150 years, and their recyclability after their life cycle guarantee their positive impact on the environment. Technology and sustainability as pillars of eco-friendly bricks Innovation is at the heart of La Paloma Cerámicas: investment in R&D&I projects focused on energy efficiency and the responsible use of resources is its maxim. Up to 50% of the electrical energy used in its processes comes from renewable sources, and its facilities have more than 4,129 kW of solar panels.
In addition, the company promotes the circular economy by transforming depleted quarries into nature reserves or agricultural areas, contributing to the economic revitalisation of rural Spain through the creation of stable, quality employment.
45 years of commitment to construction
On its 45th anniversary, La Paloma Cerámicas celebrates its evolution from a family business to a global benchmark. With a production capacity exceeding one million bricks per day and flagship projects such as the expansion of the Prado Museum and the Loyola University campus, the company continues to demonstrate that tradition and innovation can go hand in hand to build a more sustainable future.
La Paloma Cerámicas’ eco-friendly brick is more than just a product: it is a statement of intent towards a construction model that is more respectful of the environment and people.
