The expansion and renovation of the Single Office of the El Greco Museum and the Sephardic Museum in Toledo was carried out using bricks from the Jerusalem range, Levante model, by La Paloma Cerámicas. This new Single Office will be the place where the resources of these two important museums are administered and managed.
The buildings adjacent to the Tránsito Synagogue and the Sephardic Museum, an old house and an old Toledo premises, have been renovated to convert them into the ‘Single Office’ for these two museums. Following an exhaustive archaeological study carried out by A. Ruiz Taobada, the building has been extended and restored, promoted by the Directorate-General for Fine Arts, Management of Cultural Infrastructure and Equipment of the Ministry of Culture and Sport. This project, coordinated by architect Marisa González Ibañez-Gene, drafted and directed by architects Fernando Pardo Calvo and Bernardo García Tapia, protects and enhances the World Heritage Site in Toledo.
From Jerusalem to Toledo
Following the archaeological excavations necessary to preserve the history of these buildings, the vaulted spaces and foundations built in the Late Middle Ages have been studied and protected. A careful project and execution of work that will continue to accompany the Tránsito Synagogue throughout history. These actions involve the recovery, of a unitary nature, and enhancement of the archaeological elements that identify Toledo and its historical and artistic environment.

Jerusalem, the high-quality handmade brick that will be part of Toledo forever
Jerusalem Line is La Paloma Cerámicas’ range of high-quality handmade facing bricks. A commitment to differentiation, innovation and distinction without forgetting essence, history and architecture. Handcrafted, they are the link between design, durability and high quality. A material with unique properties and differences, where its technical characteristics position it as a unique ceramic product.
Jerusalem speaks for itself thanks to its compressive strength of 20N/mm², with a suction of 1.2 kg/(m² x min) and water absorption of less than 6%. Its behaviour in the face of external agents makes it an important building material. Jerusalem responds relentlessly to humidity and temperature changes. It is a non-efflorescent, non-freezing material that maintains unrivalled durability. La Paloma Cerámicas marks this product with its 100-year guarantee seal.

The Jerusalem brick range comes in black, grey, white and red, although in this case the colour and type of joint have been carefully selected. A material as versatile as it is attractive, Jerusalem can be combined with different joint colours, exponentially multiplying its finishes. The Single Office of the El Greco Museum and the Sephardic Museum in Toledo has an unrivalled material which, thanks to its careful selection, adds distinction and elevates any type of construction to a higher category.
